Ernestine (Shumate) Smith, age 88 of Swartz Creek, Michigan, formerly of Cabot, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. She was born October 30, 1921 in Greenbrier.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Keith; grandson Michael Smith; sister & brother.

Survivors are her son, Keith Jr.& Marion Smith; daughter Sue & Russ Ridley, all of Swartz Creek, Michigan; three grandsons Stephen & Leslie Smith; Ryan Ridley, Shannon & Amanda Ridley; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; two nephews; many cousins; dear friend, Tito Herrera and many loving friends.

Graveside Services will be held 1p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot where Mrs. Smith will be laid to rest next to her dear husband Keith.

Those desiring may make contributions to the Schutts-Lewis Children's Home in Valpariso, Indiana or Paragould Children's Home in Paragould, Arkansas.
