Ina Rose McCalister, 84, of Cabot, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023.  She was born October 29, 1938 in Wilmot, Arkansas to the late James and Myrtle Chandler Howie.  Ina loved babies and was a strong advocate for children with cleft palates. She worked with parents and doctors alike to design bottle nipples that would help with feeding babies with cleft palates.  She spent many hours teaching parents how to use the new design to properly feed their sweet little ones.  Ina attended Oak Grove First Baptist Church in Austin.  Even though she was a busy homemaker, she was always helping others.  She opened up her home to many people, including fostering a child (Irene) from Mexico who had a cleft palate.  She enjoyed listening to Christian music and crocheting.  In addition to her parents, Ina was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; grandson, Jason; brother, Bill and son-in-law, Robin.

Left to cherish her memory and to miss her dearly are her children, Deborah Mendez (Dan), Vickie Wise (Dan) and Jackie Macagni; ten grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Rebecca, Jennifer, Sarah, Jolene, Alisha, Edward, Arika and Jesse; fifteen great-grandchildren, Sonny, Eli, Dominic, Daxton, Storm, Zachary, Dezinnay, Ethan, Miami, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Bridget, Victoria, Ezekiel and Jaxyn, as well as many extended family members and friends.
