Jack Lewis Wood, age 87, of Cabot, passed away Saturday, May 15. He was born May 24, 1922, to Horace Samuel Wood & Lucy Ann Herrod Wood.
He served his country in the naval Cadets and Army Air Corps in World War II, honorably discharged as First Lieutenant. Mr. Wood also owned and operated an Esso gas station in Cabot for a number of years and worked with the Soil Conservation Service before started Wood Consultants, serving many farmers in Lonoke County as a farm irrigation consultant. His work was his life, and his life was his work, having retired at the age of 86. During his lifetime he made many, many friends who will miss him, as will his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his wife, Martha; son, Jim; brothers, Jeff, Willis ("Buster"), and Fred; sisters, Robbie Nelson and Aleene Brasko.
Survivors include his son, Gary (Jeanette); daughter-in-law, Kathy Wood; granddaughters, Becky Benefield (Ryan) and Brandy Wood; and great-grandchildren, Parker and Olivia Benefield, all of Cabot. Also surviving are extended family members and many friends from Lonoke County.
A Memorial Service will be held for Mr. Wood 10:00am Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke.
