Obituary

James Robert (Jim) Lang, of Ward, the Old Austin Section, has made that great journey home to be with The Lord on May 17, 2008. Jim was born on February 9, 1927 to the former John Robert and Nettie Richards Lang of El Paso, AR. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loretta Dodson Lang, a daughter, Barbara Ann (Ken) Brunell of Old Austin, and three sons, Gary Lang of Fairbanks, AK, Don and Robert Lang of Old Austin. He also has 7 grandchildren; Kenneth Lee Boyd of Cabot, Kimberly Ann Boyd of Damascus, Gwyn "Charlie" Boyd of Cabot, Georgia Lynn Boyd of Vilonia, Naomi Britt (Duncan) Barton of Old Austin, James Robert (Amy) Lang II of Jacksonville, and Scott Clayburn (Ginger) Lang of Cabot, as well as 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by two brothers, Paul Lang of Monette, AR and Zack Lang of Bald Knob, AR.

Jim is preceded in death by a grandson, George (Marty) Brunell, 4 sisters and 8 brothers. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Cabot, a veteran of WWII, and a former member of the VFW and DAV. Although being associated with dairy farming most of his earlier life, Jim was also a Cabot school bus driver for a number of years. But Jim's greatest passion and probably what he is most noted for is umpiring Cabot baseball and softball. He was loved and will be missed by all that have known him.

Visitation will be held at Thomas Funeral Home in Cabot on Monday, May 19 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with funeral services being held on May 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cabot Church of God of Prophecy. Interment will follow at Sixteen Section Cemetery.
