James Leonard Wood, Jr., 81, of Cabot passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023 in the presence of his family. James was born Tuesday, March 31, 1942 to the late James Leonard and Josey Weeks Wood.  James was a carpenter by trade.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, LaVonda Wood, Clara Bell Wood, Dorothy Lee Wood, Betty Harris, Ann Carter, Clayton Wood, Lynn Wood and Agnes Bates-Corbisly and a son in law, Darren Mitchell.

James is survived by his wife, Thelma Brown Wood; children, Wayne (Karen) Wood, Jimmy Wood, Beverly (Otis) Boggs, Elaine (Ronnie) Myers; siblings, Kenneth Wood, Glen Wood and an honorary sister, Anita (Chris) Shuptrine; fifteen grandchildren, Stephany Castleberry, Kristen Castleberry, Ashley Wood, Nikki Wood, Chandler Wood, Christy Myers, Ronny Myers, Angel Battie, Hannah Shuptrine, Kimberley Mitchell, Kayla O'Dell, James Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, Kaitlyn Smith and Jayde Boggs; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Ellie Holland, Apollo Smith, Adonus Smith, Kai Smith, Quinn Smith, Melanie O'Dell, David O'Dell, Arabella O'Dell, Luna Jones, Silas Jones, Aidyn Mitchell, Karl Gooday, Kiaha Murray, Bradley Castleberry, Luna Castleberry, MaKenzie Hale, Aubrey Hale, Destiny Davis, Emma Davis, Koda Battie and Dayton Battie; three great-great grandchildren, Jasper Echols, Hudson Martin, Emeree Martin, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Evans Cemetery.  Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.  Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service, 501-941-7888.
