John H. Gilbert, 69, of Cabot passed away Friday, June 28, 2024. He was born August 29, 1954 in North Little Rock to the late John F. and Deloris Smith Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was a master carpenter and owned his own construction, carpentry and trim business. He worked for many years in the Arkansas State Capital building and built many of the furnishings and displays still used in the capital building today. In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Gardner.

Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 39 years, Paula Matlock Gilbert; three sons, Jason Gilbert of Texas, Michael Parker and John Paul Gilbert, both of Cabot; grandchildren, McKenzie Cochran, Landon Cochran, James Highfill and Evelyn Miller and siblings, Larry Gardner, Patricia Carter of North Little Rock and Joanna King of Beebe.

The Gilbert family is planning a private celebration at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Service (501) 941-7888.
