Leroy Douglas
Lee
Feb 25, 1956 — Nov 9, 2022
Searcy
Leroy Douglas Lee, 66, of Searcy, died Wednesday, November 9, 2022. He was born February 25, 1956 in Craig, Colorado to the late Arthur Carl Lee and Opal Ozell Gardner Lee (neé Gardner). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Carl Lee, and his sister, Janet Lynn Hill. Doug (as he was known to his family and friends) started playing the guitar as a young man, joining his first band, the Leeways, with his father and brother. A life-long love of music would follow. Music was in his soul, and he was an exceptionally talented singer, songwriter and guitarist. Any given day, Doug could be found with his guitar in hand, plucking out an old familiar tune, or learning something new. Family gatherings always included a song or two, and his music brought those he loved closer together. Doug lived a life of adventure, making great friends and great music from Alaska to Hawaii to Arkansas. He loved for nothing better than to help a friend in need with a hug, a word of advice, a car repair or a song. He was an avid fisherman and dreamed of the day he'd teach his grandchildren to salmon fish on the banks of the Alaskan rivers he loved so much.
He is survived by his beloved family: his daughters, Kirsten Pickard (Josh) and grandson Nick of Tucson, AZ, and Nicole Lee (Chris) and granddaughter Izzy of Wasilla, AK; his brother-in-law and best friend Warren Hill (Lea); nieces Tanya Walther, Kristen Brazear (Matt), Melissa Lee, and Jessica Nolen; nephew Kevin Hill; and many great nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Ward United Methodist Church with Reverend Carol Grace officiating. A further celebration of life will take place in the summer of 2023 at 17 Mile Lake in Sutton, Alaska. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service, 501-941-7888.
