Obituary

Lloyd V. McCanliss, age 80 of Cabot, passed away February 18, 2011. He was born May 12, 1930 in Banner, Oklahoma to the late Walter McCanliss & Opal Walker.

He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Short and Margaret Altizer, one brother Robert McCanliss and step-brother John Lewis.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean of the home; three children Wayne of Atlanta, Georgia, Allen of Kingwood, Texas and David of Coushatta, Louisiana; one sister Laura Vermillion of Yukon, Oklahoma; two step-brothers Leonard Lewis and Dale Lewis both of Mtn. Veiw; three grandchildren Kimberlea, Tiffany and Jacob; and one great-granddaughter Mikayla.

He spent 20 years in the Air Force and 12 ½ at Remington Arms. He was one of the original founders of Cabot City Beautiful and the Cabot City Planning Commission for several years. He also was a member of the Cabot AARP Chapter for many years. He loved to fish and garden.

Visitation will be held 2:00pm-4:00pm Tuesday, February 22, 2011 with Memorial Service immediately following 4:00pm at Thomas Funeral Chapel.
