Mamie Jo "Jody" Moss Bowers Corey, 94, passed away Sunday morning, October 7, 2018. She was born in Roosevelt, Oklahoma April 1, 1924 one of six children of Fred and Lorena Moss.  They lived in Hobart, OK until Jody was seven then the family moved to Wichita, KS.  She graduated from Cathedral Catholic high school in May 1942.  Jody along with her sisters Lucy and Irene sang professionally with the Ark Valley Boys on KFH radio station for several years.  They left KFH in 1942 and toured with Barney Rapp and his orchestra for some years until Irene got married. Jody had two brothers, Richard and Bill Moss and three sisters Lucille, Irene, and Dixie. She married Martin J. (Jerry) Bowers of Emporia, Kansas on December 16, 1945.  They had two children Frederick Martin (Fred) in October 1946, and Vicki Diane in September 1948. Vicki and her Husband Gary Herrick live in Olathe, Kansas.  Jody and Jerry divorced in 1970. Jody worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Emporia as a customer service representative for over 30 years until she retired.  She married Bill Corey of Emporia in 1974 who passed away several years later. When Jody's Mother in Wichita became ill she moved there to take care of her and after her mother passed she lived in her home for several years before moving to Conway, AR to be near her son Fred and his wife JoAnn.  After JoAnn passed from cancer, Fred and Jody moved to Jacksonville, AR and lived there for three years until Fred passed away suddenly in 2015.  She then moved to Sheridan, AR to be near her grandson Eric and his family and live with her daughter-in-law Shirley Zumbrunn, Eric's mother. In April 2018 Jody moved to Crown Point Assisted Living in Sheridan and was residing there until September 24th when her stroke and fall led to her placement into Hospice Care in Bryant, AR.  Then on October 1st she was moved to Heartland Rehabilitation & Care Center in Benton, AR where she passed away on October 7, 2018.  She is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and her son Fred.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki Herrick and husband Gary, her daughter-in-law Shirley Zumbrunn, 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Service, 713 S. Second Street, Cabot, Arkansas 72023 with Pastor Nathan Hubbard officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot, Arkansas.
