There was applause from Heaven November 29, 2010 as Neville "Maurice" Stevens, age 81, walked through the gates of Heaven. "Mr. Maurice", as he was called, was a well known Certified Public Accountant. It was not unusual for people to come from neighboring states year after year seeking his advice on taxes. Mr. Stevens served in the Air Force before he married the love of his life, Barbara Hays Stevens. She preceded him in death, along with their precious son James Richard Stevens.

He leaves behind his 7 children. Though with heavy hearts, rejoice over the fact that he is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Many crowns await him for he and "Miss Barbara" helped to guide so very many lost souls to seek the scriptures pertaining to the love of Christ and how to live an eternal life in Heaven.

He strived to live a Christ-like life. We never once ever heard a cuss word come from his mouth exclaim his children. He was very much a gentleman. A gentle soul. Barbara and Maurice Co-founded the 1st School for Exceptional Children in that area of the state (Alabama), thus helping so many countless handicapped children. When we think of daddy, we can only think of the love, kindness and generosity that he had for his family and friends. Rest in peace sweet daddy; we'll see ya later.

Mr. Stevens is survived by sons Allen M. Stevens of Johnson City, Tennessee, Brian A. Stevens of Memphis, Tennessee, Tony Mahfouz(Denia) of Citronelle, Alabama, John Stevens of Mobile, Alabama and Terry Tim Stevens(Annette) of Saraland, Alabama; Daughters Kathleen Briggs Atchison of Citronelle, Alabama, Donna Herrington(Larry) of Stuttgart; and several grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Friday, December 10 at 11:00am in Leroy, Alabama at the 1st Baptist Church of Leroy. Memorials may be made to United Cerebral Palsy or the charity of your choice.
