Norma Jean Greer, age 90, of Cabot went to be with her Lord and Savior Jan. 7, 2016. She was born Jan. 27, 1925 in Austin to the late Henry & Morgan.

She also joins her husband Doyle Greer; grandson Kevin Walters and brother Bud Morgan, Sr.

She leaves behind to carry on her legacy her children Doyle Jean & Randall and Johnny & Jane Greer; grandchildren Kendra & Steve Turner, John Greer, Jeremy Greer, Jessica & Dominic Hamm and Stephanie & Mike; great-grandchildren Morgan Spinks, Bella Greer Baylee Greer, Sydney Turner and Maddie Westbrook; along with many other family members and dear friends.

She started working at the war plant in 1943 and took off to raise her children. They moved to Jacksonville and when they started building the Air Force base she took in the workers and fed them three meals a day and helped Doyle milk the cows. Her and Doyle opened their own business selling luggage, ice chests and coolers they got from Muskogee. She was one of the first people to be employed at Remington Arms. When her husband got sick she left work to help take care of him and run the business. Then she decided she wanted to open her own floral business. And with the help of Johnny she opened and ran Greer's Florist in front of her house. When she retired she went on many trips with her best friend Gene Ray. They visited Jim Baker's and Gulf Shores. Gene said "Norma was always the brave one and she was the scared one". She loved going on cruises and family vacations and playing the penny slots. Norma loved Nascar and going to the Beebe Racetrack to watch Todd Joslin with her grandson Kevin. She also loved to crochete and was an avid QVC watcher.


Visitation 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at The Bridge Church in Cabot with Funeral Services immediately following at 10 a.m. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.
