Norma Jean Schoonover age 87 of Cabot went to be with his Lord on February 17, 2014 in Cabot. She was born on August 22, 2026 in Guthrie Center, Iowa to the late Milo and Lula Cretsinger Lower.
Norma in also proceeded in death by children: Clark LeRoy Schoonover, Beth Colleen Schoonover VanRokel, Brother: Dwayne Lower, two sisters: Beth Ilene Lower and Lucille Lower Heath,
Norma was born on the home farm where she grew up, She spent the first eight years of her education in a one room school house and went on to complete her education by receiving a teaching certificate. During this time teachers were not allowed to be married and teach, so she chose to teach in her Home School.
On June 20 1946 she married the lover of her life Fred W "Bill" Schoonover. To this marriage two children were born the first being in their son Clark Leroy in 1952 and two years later their daughter Beth Colleen in 1954.
Norma loved her home, reading and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was privileged to be able to be a stay at home mother until they began school. At that time in her life she began her professional life at a local locker and then for the next 14 years she worked as a caregiver at the local nursing home until she retired.
Norma is survived by husband of 67 years Fred W "Bill" Schoonover of Cabot, brother: William Lower and wife Velma of Guthrie Center, Iowa, brother-in-law: Rex Schoonover of Guthrie Center, Iowa, two sister-in-laws: Millicent Pete Schoonover Christensen of Ankeny, Iowa and Eleanor Jane Schoonover Brill of Guthrie Center, Iowa, daughter-in-law: Diane Schoonover of Ward, Arkansas, son-in-law Roy VanRokel of Conway, Arkansas, five grandchildren: Aaron Schoonover, Jenen Schoonover Williams and husband Joey, Jacob Schoonover, Richard VanRonkel and wife Allison, Kortney VanRokel Howard seven great grandchildren: Branden Schoonover, Adam Schoonover, Madison Williams, Zayne Williams, Chayse VanRokel, Emily Howard, Bill Howard, five nieces, two nephews and a host of other family and friends.
