Richard William Petty, age 53, of Ward, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008. He was born January 28, 1953 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to William Earnest & Maudie McCarley Petty.

He is preceded in death by his father William Petty, one grandchon Ryan Cushman and one brother Henry Petty.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Petty of Ward and Jason Petty of Ft. Worth, Texas; three daughters, Mabel Neeley of Ward, Paula Carter of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Christy Haynes of Andrew, Texas; his mother Maudie Petty of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one sister Viola Chase of Florida; two brothers, Earnest Petty & Michael Petty both of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and ten grandchildren.

Private family visitation was held on Friday, March 21, 2008. Memorial Services are scheduled for 6:30 pm on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 121 Poppy in Cabot.
