Sheila Renee Pierce, 70, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021. She was born July 29, 1950 in Little Rock to the late Earl Dean and Kathryn Paulene Dearman Ross. Sheila was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Benton and loved to talk about Jesus. She also enjoyed watching Jimmy Swaggart. She and her late husband, Charlie, were foster parents before starting their own family. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Baptist Medical School of Nursing. Her passion for helping children extended to her work as a Registered Nurse working with teenagers at the Arkansas State Hospital for 14 years and for several more years at the Arkansas Health Center in Haskell. Sheila appreciated her Native American heritage. She loved her dogs, flowers and fishing.

Mrs. Pierce is survived by her children, Sarah Estes (Jessie Peal), Jason Pierce (Michelle Tovar) and Joshua Pierce (Shara Fournier) and former son-in-law, Mike Peasley; grandchildren, Lela Vardaman (Sam) of Glenrose, William Hunter Ray Pierce of Malvern, Michaela Peasley, Marileigh Tovar, Edgar Tovar, Jazmin Tovar, Elijah Ray Pierce and Brayden Allen Pierce, all of Haskell and siblings, Sandra Johnson (Dave) of Beebe, Gary Dobbs of Pahrump, Nevada, Richard Ross of Dubuque, Iowa and Kevin Ross of Des Moines, Iowa.

The Pierce family is planning a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Service (501)941-7888.
